Electronic Prescription Service

Are you on repeats medications? Would you like to save time in collecting prescriptions?

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service that allows us to send your prescription(s) directly to your chosen pharmacy. Once a pharmacy nomination is setup it means that you do not have to come into the surgery to collect your prescription.

How can you use EPS?

You need to choose a place for your GP practice to electronically send your prescription to. This is called nomination.

What does this mean for you?

  • Once a pharmacy nomination is setup, it means you will not have to visit the surgery to pick up a paper prescription thus saving you time. Instead, prescription will be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy, and you can just go and collect your medication.
  • The service will offer you greater flexibility – not having to rush or make a special trip to the surgery within opening hours to collect paper prescription.

If I change my mind, can I change my nomination or remove it?

Yes you can. If you want to change or remove your nomination speak to any pharmacist or your GP practice.

Is EPS reliable, secure and confidential?

Yes. Your electronic prescription will be seen by the same people in GP practices, pharmacies that see your paper prescription now.
